remember kids, everything you read on the internet is not true.
now i’m not a doctor, but if my metabolism increases 14% with every degree my body temperature increases, that would mean that with just over 7 degrees of increase (say, a moderate fever or even an extended stay in the jacuzzi) i’d at a 100% increases in my metabolism, which means it’d be burning twice as many calories. this is incorrect.
also incorrect is that when you sleep, your metabolic rate decreases. this is not true. your body works while you sleep. yes, your metabolic rate will decrease from say, doing something active (walking, cleaning, etc), but you actually burn more calories sleeping than you do sitting on the couch and watching tv.
also, no certain food can actually increase your metabolism in the long run. anything that it does do is temporary. the best thing you can do to get your metabolism running at it’s most optimal rate is eat right and exercise. and that’s that.
Metabolism 101
Hello, maned wolf, why don’t you come over to my house and prance around on those cool legs for a bit?
via failbag:
Despite its name, the maned wolf is not a wolf at all, nor is it a fox, coyote, or dog. It is the only member of theChrysocyon genus, making it a truly unique animal, not closely related to any other living canid. One hypothesis for this is that the maned wolf is the last surviving species of the Pleistocene Extinction, which wiped out all other large canids from the continent.
Forest Spirit, anyone?
Oooooooooooo
Cool species
After a whole week of sxsw, this is a much needed laugh.
